About Brad Bull

Bradley Bull, CFO, began his EMS career during his senior year of high school in Oregon, Illinois, in 1999 as a volunteer observer and completed his EMT-Basic course in 2000 through Rock Valley College.

Brad moved on to Augustana College after high school, and began pre-med courses with an emphasis on biology. He also enrolled in a paramedic course during this time and began working part-time with Trinity Ambulance Service in Rock Island, Illinois, to keep his skills sharp while still in school. Brad became licensed as an EMT-Paramedic in 2002 and became an instructor in ACLS, CPR, EVOC, ITLS and PALS.

Brad left Augustana shortly after Paramedic school (completed at Blackhawk College, Moline, IL) and attended the University of Illinois-Chicago for 1 year until leaving college to help start ATS. Viewing education as an important tool, Brad completed his undergraduate degree in Spring 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh. While enrolled at Pitt, Brad also completed his CCEMT-P through the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

In June of 2005, driven by many of the same concerns, Brad joined forces with Andy in creating ATS Medical Services.

“It was just disheartening to see the way things operated in the local area. I guess coming from a small town where you know your neighbors and try to help people, the harshness of the corporate-way the ambulances were run just made me think there could be a better way. A way that could be profitable yet still have good people that would really take care of the patients – not just treat them and drop them off somewhere.”

“I love medicine and I love being in the field. I’m passionate about making sure it’s done right. We started ATS in 2005 with one ambulance and six employees. We now have 6 ambulances, 6 wheelchair vans and 6 staffing contracts and approximately 80 employees. I’m proud of that. And I’m proud we’re growing because people realize the difference in our company. I’m proud we’re doing it the right way.”

About The Owners:

Andrew T Schultz, CEO, began his EMS career in 1985 as a volunteer with the rural Win-Bur-Sew fire department in Winnebago, Illinois. He soon learned that the largest percentage of the fire service was running medical calls and loved the idea of making a difference to the people in his district and went to EMT-A (current EMT-B) class. Realizing that there was more he could do, he went on to become an Intermediate EMT (EMT-I) and quickly on to the Paramedic program where he graduated top of his class in grade point average.
